I think Patrick mentioned a few months ago that v3 would allow you to choose
the epoch, or use the current epoch.

At least until recently, it was standard on charts to use a fixed and basically
standardized epoch (I remember epoch 1950 charts when I was a kid).  With
computers, that idea may fall by the wayside...
