For any of you that are interested in observing geosynchronous
satellites, I've answered my own question from last week and come up
with what I think is a pretty workable solution.

I've uploaded a zip file, geosync_cat_kit.zip, that has everything
you need within it except Mike McCann's HighFly which is available
from his web site at http://users2.ev1.net/%7Emmccants/. (Note: This
web site is moving on or about Nov 12, 2006 to
http://www.io.com/~mmccants/. This is a good resource, so don't lose
track of it!!) Once you have a TLE file in hand (www.space-track.com
is a good place to get this as they have geosync only TLEs available
as well as everything else), place it in the same directory as the
unpacked zip file and run the included batch file. This will
generate a flat text file from which CatGen can build a catalog.
Then run CatGen, load the catalog descriptor, GeoSats.prj, and
generate the catalog. The resulting catalog can be accessed from CdC
by adding it under the Catalogs tab on the menu pull-down Prefs|Cats
& Objs. Right now the Catgen setup will place the catalog in
C:\Program Files\Ciel\cat\externes\geosyncs\. You may have to adjust
paths to suit your system.

To locate a satellite, search for its alternate catalog name (e.g.
[EMAIL PROTECTED], see the file resultant geocat.txt for details). The 4
numerals after the @ are the 24hr time. Data points are available in
half hour increments.

Email me off-list if you have questions. Works great!! Isn't CdC
great?! You can even add functionality that didn't exist before.
