Sander,
Well, I upgraded to V3.1 and have recovered from that disaster, red 
hell and all.  I have completely lost V2.79 and it is no longer 
listed on the download sites.  I have managed to get V3.09 back in 
working mode.  I will leave well enough alone now and ignore the 
nonfunctioning comet symbol.  This is more stress than it's worth.
