Ok, Syncing from the hand pad for initial alignment is an excellent 
way to bring polar AS scopes to alignment.  I do this all the time. I 
thought you might have meant, "Syncing" the AS to the CdC position. 
The AS has done a poor job of implementing this in the past. Meade 
may have fixed this in later releases. I don't know, as I have not 
tested this in a few years. The ASII and the LX200 classics did a 
better job. 
You might want to try a serial logger and see if the data stream is 
being interrupted. If you are using a USB->Serial, remember that they 
are not all created equal.
