The AS has to try to match the other Meade mounts and do it all in 1 
meg of memory. That includes all the internal catalogs.  So you have 
to give it some credit. There were a lot more quirks in the early 
releases, like not reliably able to find planets. Meade has steadily 
improved the AS at pretty much no cost to the end user.  So I can't 
really complain except for Meade also needs to update the command set 
documentation. There are a lot more things implemented than the doc's 
lead you to believe.
