What's really odd is that Meade puts two RS-232 ports on the LX200GPS/R models, 
but you can only use one at a time.  On the LX200 classic (which only had one 
socket, but you could wire two connections using different sets of pins in the 
socket), you could use both simultaneously (with occasional glitches, but that 
seemed to depend on the software programs  you were using).  On our new 16" 
LX200R (which still has only  one physical socket but two possible sets of 
pins, like the classic), I can use either connection separately, but if I try 
to connect to two programs, either the second program won't connect, or the 
scope will crash the minute either program tries to communicate with the scope 
with both programs connected.
