I can answer your last one, though. 3.0 is ready for primetime NOW I use it all 
the time...haven't opened 2.76 in a while (well, since 3.0 is not yet 
compatible, I still do use 2.76 from within Deepsky, AstroPlanner, and a couple 
of other aps).
