Since you can have either round or rectangular reticles, it's useful for 
framing an object for imaging-  It will tell you how an object will fit on your 
CCD, without actually having to move the scope to the object.

I suppose the same would apply to round reticles and EP views, but I use this 
feature mainly for imaging.
