Since there was no answer until now from other users, it doesn't seem to be a problem which makes the universe stand still ;-)
I used to replace the default v7.5 of "Saguaro Astronomy Club Deep-Sky Database" SAC-catalog with the v8.0 downloaded from "http://x.astrogeek.org/software/cdc/catalog.php". Maybe this is the reason why the search function in CdC build 1233/1235 doesn't work properly on my system (Xubuntu 8.04.1).
