Hello Francois, copy the folder "ucac3" to .../skychart/cat/ If you are using linux, you have to be sudo and give access to the cat directory to all users. The header of the catalog "*.hdr" must be in the main directory of /ucac3/
In skychart (=cartes du ciel) go to menu Settings -> Catalogs -> Add catalog. The ucac3 should appear (if the header is okay) in the list but with a red colour (it is not activated). Click on the red coloured field and it turns to green if the catalog is installed properly. Testing: zoom into a star field and click on a faint star. In the status line appears a description of the star like "UCAC3.......". If you click on a rather bright star, you will read "TYC2......".
