Hi Sander, Thanks for your help here. Sorry for the delay in responding - I didn't get on to emails at all yesterday.
I have SKY2000 checked and it appears to be where it says it is. I am not sure about the object filter under chart, coordinate settings - all I see is equatorial, alt-az, etc coordinates. I've tried to select More Stars by both from the icon and from Chart/Number if stars. No change. The thing is the stars are there until I zoom in and then they disappear. I'm not sure if I can attach files to this email, so I have uploaded a couple to my web site. http://www.madpc.net/~peterl/Chart1.jpg is at an fov of about 22 degrees and http://www.madpc.net/~peterl/Chart2.jpg is after clicking on the zoom+ icon (fov ~11 degrees) but the transition appears to be at 20 degrees fov.
