Actually, Ctrl+A in the old buffer would include the "Press Esc to
close this message" text, so you would still have to edit it.  The
standard way to get a message to the clipboard is to find it in the
chat message list and type Ctrl+C from there.  I don't think there's a
need to add yet another way to get a message to the clipboard.  You
can even select multiple messages and copy the whole block with Ctrl+C
from the list.
