Hi Jenny and BZ, try to uncheck the checkbox "Let Skype adjust my audio settings" in Skype Options / Audio Settings and see what happens. I had it checked before and it tended to make my microphone level low. [Mine was not an USB set at that time anyway.] Hth. Barbuz
