Hi Jim and others!

Well, so they say. This capability has been around for a while even before the
4.0 beta. I've not yet tried the beta, and it's been in my account settings.
However it doesn't work. I have an accessible mobile phone so had no problem
receiving the SMS with the verification code. Did that probably two weeks ago.
Entering the code was easy enough done. But of course, it has a little
disclaimer on it about some countries not allowing it. There is also another
disclaimer in the settings area that says caller identification may not work
all the time. I've checked all the boxes to turn it on, but a test call to my
standard number indicates that it doesn't work. It doesn't display my verified
mobile number nor either of the US or New Zealand Skype in numbers that I own,
even though the settings indicate that it should because it says my US number
is available, and afterward, my account overview says caller identification is
on. . In my test call, my caller ID reported 0000.

The only time this seems to work properly is if I send an SMS from Skype. In
that case, it does claim to come from my verified mobile number, and thus will
allow replies to be sent, which I can then receive there.

Cheers,
Dave

  Hi,
One nice thing about the new beta is we now have an easy way to let people
know we are calling them. If you have a cell phone with sms capabilities
you can set up your skype out to always report your cell phone number. You
simply put the number of your phone in the box and then put in the
confirmation code and whenever you call someone with skype it reports your
cell phone number to the caller id. Very cool. Only problem for me is I do
not have a phone that reads sms messages. \
