Yep, that's definitely got something to do with it. A call to my non-Skype affiliated US number identified my US Skype in number as the caller when it Emailed me the alert for the voicemail I left for myself.
Curiously, a call to my Vodafone number said the call was coming from a private number. However, once verified, turning caller ID on and off can be done freely in the account settings. Of course, as I've said before, turning it on doesn't seem to help even if you wanted to show it, it probably won't, so I wouldn't worry.
