Hi sorry I just feel I have to throw in my 2 cents worth hear, so please excuse a fairly long rant. Unfortunately lets face it, even if a company is supportive of accessibility, that gets the chop if it gets in the way of making something look nice. but in the case of a lot of companies and developers very few care about accessibility and when they do, its an extra just to shut a vocal minority up, its not planned and built in from day one. unless the application is specifically designed for us, in which case of course it isn't mainstream. very few companies are helpful when it comes to this sort of thing. take IM+ the messaging client for the mobile phone, accessibility got the chop with the latest version, and shape services don't seem particularly keen to restore it even though a lot of blind people have contacted them. and in the case of some of there other applications like there mobiola webcam application I made the mistake of installing the pc part on to my laptop, but the software wasn't accessible, and niether was the uninstaller. and guess what surprise surprise i contacted there support department about it, and they said my comments were past on and they would try to give me a solution soon, but that was it. I only got it off my pc in the end when for other reasons I had to reinstall. but unfortunately in this world, lets face it as far as accessibility is concerned, obtaining books in an accessible format and plenty of other issues, we will almost certainly always be considered maybe unintentionally by the vast majority as second class citizens.
