As far as I'm concerned dial tones used to work until the new update. There are some aspects that are a little inconvenient to use, but most aspects work very well. The only problem I was having, and some people seem to have no problem at all with this, is using touchtones during a call. I am not able to do this in Skype 4, while, like I said, other people have no problems and for still others it seems to work some of the time but not all. For me this is too important to allow me to upgrade to 4 until this is addressed. But if it weren't for that, I would upgrade right away because the audio quality is so much better. Doug's Skype scripts page, www.dlee.org/skype, contains the scripts for Skype 4. Doug has done an absolutely tremendous job.
