I don't know what could be causing your JAWS to freeze when you tab to options using JAWS 10, regardless of Skype version. I use JAWS 10 with Skype and the scripts all the time and never see this.
I can help with avoiding computer restarts though: If JAWS locks up, try typing Insert+Windows+F4. After a few seconds, you may hear a low beep from your computer speaker. Note, that's the computer speaker, not the normal sound device, whatever that is on your system. After the beep, or after maybe ten seconds if you never hear one, try loading JAWS as you normally would. If that succeeds, look through Alt+Tab order and close any "Application File For JAWS" error windows that may exist. If the tactic I describe here does not get you a new running copy of JAWS, you'll still need to restart. If you want to go to one of your contact's chat, simply select the contact in question and press control 4 or control five.
