Since this may be useful to others as well, I'll send it to the whole
mailing list, rather than to you only.
I suppose you have downloaded and installed the program (?).
After that, run it. Skype will inform you that "MP3 Skype Recorder" is
trying to access Skype. You will have to allow "MP3 Skype Recorder" to
access Skype, in order to be able to record the Skype calls. To do that
(specially if you are using Skype 3.8 or earlier), do the following:
1. Focus Skype.
2. Go to Tools -> Options and press Enter to open the Options window.
3. Go to the Advanced section and TAB to the link "Manage other programs
access to Skype" (or something similar) and press spacebar or Enter to
activate it. A new dialog will appear.
4. In that dialog, select the "MP3 Skype Recorder" program from the
list, press "Change" button and in the next dialog select "Allow to
access Skype" radiobutton and press OK.
5. Close all other dialogs and windows and you are done with this procedure.
For Skype 4, this procedure is much easier: when a program asks
permission to communicate with Skype, a dialog from Skype appears
notifying you about this. In this dialog there are 2 buttons: "Allow
access" and "Deny access". To allow this program to communicate with
Skype, you will have to press the "Allow access" button and you are done.
After that, you will have to setup the "MP3 Skype Recorder" itself.
Basically, there is almost nothing to be set-up - only a few things.
When you run "MP3 Skype Call Recorder", you will land on an unlabeled
button - this is for enabling automatic recording of calls or to start
recording during a call, when automatic recording is disabled. TAB once
and you are on the next unlabeled button - this is for disabling
automatic recording or to stop recording during a call. The next TAB-ing
gets you to the third unlabeled button - this one is for opening the
folder containing the call recordings. Next there are a few links, witch
are self-explanatory and they have to be activated by pressing Enter -
spacebar doesn't work on them. Next is a read-only field, in witch you
can read where is the current location for storing recordings. Next is a
checkbox, witch when checked, will make "MP3 Skype Recorder" start when
Windows starts. Next is another unlabeled button - this allows you to
select where to store your Skype recordings. Note, that after you change
the folder for storing Skype recordings, the program may ask you if you
want to save the changes you just made. Next is a set of 3 radiobuttons,
witch allows you to select the mode of the sound recording: mono, stereo
and joint stereo (the last 2 will make it so your voice is recorded in
the one of the channels, and the voices of the other participants will
be recorded in the other channel). Next is another set of radiobuttons
(4 total) - they allow you to select the bitRate of the output mp3 files
(the options are: 24, 32, 64 and 128 kbps). The next control is a
checkbox, witch when checked, will make "MP3 Skype Recorder" minimize to
the system tray when started. By TAB-ing next you will land in some sort
of mini webpage, in witch you can read witch version of the program you
are running and if there is a newer version available. You can get out
of this webpage by pressing TAB 1 or 2 times. AND you land on the first
unlabeled button again.
When you are done setting up the program, press INSERTPageDown (this
makes JAWS read the bottom line) and if JAWS tells you: "Connected to
Skype; Recording: On" - everything is OK and you can start a call and
the program will start recording automatically. Note, that in order to
see this line in the status bar of "MP3 Skype Recorder", Skype has to be
running at the time and it has allowed "MP3 Skype Recorder" to have
access to the Skype API.
