I'm Sieghard from British Columbia. I read your post about Skype To Go being a local number. Unless I am missing something, there is a single Skype To Go number for all of Canada and it is 647-367-2864. I checked the area code briefly and know it's Ontario, I assume from your post that it is a local call from Toronto, however, the rest of Canada would have to call this number as a long distance call. I believe in the States they have a few more numbers, but by no means do they have a local number for all places just like it is not possible to get a Skype-In number that is local to everybody no matter where they are. I guess that is the price one pays for not living in a major centre like Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal etc. Anyhow, as Skype To Go numbers in my opinion are most useful for use with a mobile phone, it's still possible to have free access as long as you have a plan that allows for unlimited calls to and from certain numbers for a monthly fee. I am with Telus Mobility and have the "My Faves 5 National" which let's me place and receive unlimited calls from 5 numbers I specify no matter where I am in Canada. It's $15 a month, but I think well worth it if you make a lot of calls. This way I can add the Skype To Go number as one of the 5 favourite numbers and basically call it for free no matter where I am and then take advantage of my Skype subscription to make calls. You can change any of the numbers you selected on the Telus website if you log into your account, but the change won't take effect until the start of your next billing period, e.g. if my billing period is from the 15th of the month to the 14th of the next months and I change or add a number on the 16th, I don't have the benefit of free calls until a month later.
