And besides the points you raise about the new Kit, I think it's meant for writing Skype replacements, not interfaces to Skype itself. I see pros and cons to that, but SkypeTalking is probably best implemented as a Skype interface, not a completely separate client that runs without Skype running also. Just my thought, having made the same decision about Clisk.
