3 reasons not to up date skype 5.1 from skype 5.0.0.156. 1. not quitting
with skypetalking. 2. not informing checked/unchecked itomes in sound
setting page. 3. when you check some one's profile it again and again says
group box. for example birthday group box office phone group box etc.

I sincerely did not find what you're mentioning about call not working in
5.1, no issue at all. Could it be your ram?
For the automatic updates of Skype 3.8, try quitting Skype and launching
the file which you can download here:

If you don't hear anything after opening it, try pressing down harrow; you
should hear, "Enter Skype ID".
