I have a solution for you.
when I go to make a phone call like I did today using skype instead of my
cell phone when I had to wait
for a long time to get help with MediCal, I just typed in the number after
pressing the call phones button, then chose U.S., then instead of using the
keypad feature, I just typed in the number then tabbed or shift tabbed until
I got to call button fairly easy, but in order to use the keypad you just
have to cycle through the numbers until you get to the ones you want, every
time, pretty redundant in my opinion which is why I did the first option. I
usually just add them to my contacts, then they appear below all my other
contacts and I just call them instead of going about it the other way. So if
I were you, just press the call phones button in the main window and in the
edit field if you tab once after selecting the country of your choice, in my
case U.S., press enter, then tab until you hear edit, it should be the first
thing you hear then you type the numbers in using the numbers row of your
keyboard, then press the call button then after ending the call, save them
into your contacts so that way you can select them instead of going through
that whole redundant task of just tabbing/shift-tabbing.
