This is quite complicated to explain but this is what my understanding to
this. Since Skype have gone to the world of microsoft they seemed to have
ignore everyone request in the skype network forum. Skype have said they
will not remove the skype home, possibly the fact of the facebook feature
but I do agree as well as visually impaired people as well as sighted people
that why can't they put a check box to say that skype home don't have to be
loaded each time. Doug has already done a keystroke of Skype Home for us,
before facebook came in the theme. Skype users have gone very angry to
Skype. On the other hand though, some people on Skype like this feature so
that they can read Facebook. If they took the feature off then some people
might not log in to Facebook chat. So it is a bit of a mix up.
I already made a comment regarding this too. Are you on the forum too?

since many people already asked question with no response, I see no way of
get rid of this. I just sent a feature request to the Jira asking to give
us this ability, such as like a checkbox in the Skype options. Let us see
if they listen to us.
