How do you get to "prefs?" Is that an abbreviation I'm not
farmiliar with yet? I'll try restarting Skype (or the PC) and see
if it works.

I went to prefs and set it up that way. It will take you to your
account where in you can just inable it. I would shut down skype
though just in case there are any conflicts though. oh and you
start from account not profile. At least that's what my friend
did.
