it is much better than the snowball ever was
and the snowball at the time was the best microphone I used on Skype
but this is much better
for a start it has no tripod legs that prize apart and can easily get
knocked over
instead it has a huge metal base about 4 to 6 inches across in diameter and
totally flat
this sits on the table and becomes very sturdy
remember the CB days when cars had mag mount aerials?
these had the same huge metal base but were magnetic
the microphone I bought is the same but has no magnetic fixing
it also has a thick metal tube which connects to the base of the mike
on top of the metal tube is a very fat chunky microphone of which people
with dexteria could easily hold
the tip of the mike has one of those ice cream cornet wire mesh things on
top [ sorry but that's the only way I can describe it]
this sits on top of the metal tube
on top of the mike is the on off switch
it has a very good quality audio amplification and the modulation is as near
perfect as I am ever likely to get
it is very heavy and if I dropped it on my feet I would certainly know about
it
is made by pro sound and I paid £33 something call it £34 from maplins
if you are looking for a replacement mike then I might suggest you go to
your nearest maplin and purchase one of these
give it a try and let me know what you think
so far under first impressions I am very pleased with the end result
I will give it a few days then the snowball can be sold

Hi Yvonne.
Does your new mic sound as good or better than the Blue Snowball? They
sound pretty good for a USB mic.
Honestly, it won't hurt anything leaving that soundcard option in there.
Plus, if you ever plug a microphone in through it's 1/8" jacks, you'll be
able to select it in Skype.
That said, removing the item shouldn't break anything, as long as you
leave it listed under speakers.
