Yes it's true of being able to live without typing sound in skype chat: I've had this experience with Skype Spanish and English scripts. Once I switched skype to English with the English scripts typing sound back! Though yes it's nice to have the typing sound to get an idea of when someone is typing, one can live without the typing sound in Skype chat.
