Hi!
If you plan to contact Skype Support about the online status of Messenger
contacts showing up, Mark, I would be grateful, and I'm sure plenty of other
Skype users would be too.
I personally think the issue mentioned above isn't screenreader-related,
given that you can't see the status of Messenger contacts with JAWS and I
can't with NVDA: I don't personally know of any sighted people who have
merged Messenger with Skype so I have no idea whether they have the same
issue. However, I certainly hope this issue will be dealt with in a future
Skype version: in the past I only had online contacts visible in Skype, but
I currently have to show all contacts and sort them by name to get at my
Messenger contacts at all, since even Skype doesn't seem to be able to
detect whether the messenger contacts are online or offline as far as I can
tell.
While I'm here, I have another question. Has anybody been able to add a new
Messenger contact through Skype successfully? If so, how did they do it?

I had that problem, too, Chela, that my Messenger contacts didn't show up
after I merged Messenger with Skype and was told it was successful. I ended
up completely reinstalling Skype, then my Messenger contacts showed up in
the contact list as they should, except that I can't read the online status
of Messenger contacts, it just says "Messenger" next to their names. That
may be just a teething problem with this new feature: hopefully in future
Skype versions the status of Messenger contacts will be readable!

that or the fact I put the fear of God to NVDA but now I can't see my
contacts and I know my friend Chris is online because I used Instantbird to
double check that but in skype I have it set to show all my contacts,
whether it be facebook chat, MsN Messenger and Skype now everyone else is
showing up except the WLM account which I was told was successfully merged.
Have any of you had that issue or is it just me again?

finally made it see it, it said on the fourth tab knowing the the first tab
it gets me to is the username for skype tabbed three times and heard
"Microsoft Account" link then pressed enter and followed the straightforward
steps to merge and it told me to from now on to sign in with my Microsoft
Account instead. This was on the sign in screen and I didn't do anything to
change settings nothing was wrong on my end, I just had to wait to hear my
screen reader actually see it. I don't know how to further explain what I
did but it finally work, so, let's rejoice that the support team doesn't
have to wrry about hearing from me again.
