Hello! I also had the same problem and posted here few weeks ago.
I found out that it’s a technical problem of Skype, the contact request received sound plays but no sound or no any other notifications to clarify that the sound request arrived. probably, quitting from skype through the system try and relaunching it may solve the problem. This is what Skype support team has recommended me. By the way, In new Beta release of Skype; method of accepting contacts has changed because we’re not alone in this case to have problems seing requests. In new beta, when we receive a contact request, a message window of that user opens in another window and all we have to do is pressing tab untill we hear “Accept” button or “Add to Contacts” button. By doing that, we will be answering to their request. Hope it was clear enough.
