GW Connect uses a different API, one that is for Skype client replacements, not addons that work with the Skype program itself. GW Connect will not be hurt by this API termination if it occurs, but the API terminate will almost certainly end the usability of Clisk, SkypeTalking, and any other addons that use that API. You can identify which programs are likely to perish if the Desktop API dies in this way: If they run alongside Skype and require Skype to be running, they will die. If they run in place of Skype and will not or need not have Skype running at the same time, they will not be bothered by this change.
