Doug, I will do what you asked but should I replace the jaws version
number 12 with 14. I mean I encountered the same problem with all jaws
versions I have installed in my laptop so I am wondering whether I
should do the same thing with all versions or is it suffice to try this
procedure only with jaws 12?

In summary though, you do the following to get your JAWS back:
1. Run jaws12 /default (replace "12" with your JAWS version number)
>from the Windows Run box, or use another JAWS version or screen reader
that still works.
2. Open the JAWS user folder for the troubled JAWS version by going to
Start, All Programs, JAWS 12.0 (or whatever version just blew up),
Explore JAWS, Explore My Settings.
3. Find and delete the file called default.jsb. Be careful that you
have default.jsb, where the last letter is b as in "boy." If your
Windows Explorer does not show file extensions, use the file type
description column in the Details view to figure out the file type.
Alt+V D, at least in English Windows installations, will switch
Windows Explorer to Details view.
Once you do these things, your JAWS should again work properly. The
scripts will also work for Skype 6.9 at this point, though you will
not have SkypeWatch enabled.
Details on how to help me figure out what's causing this problem and
how to fix it appear in the above podcast.
