Steve:
Excellent. Got it.
Just asking:
If I don't check off the accept files automatically option, and choose to
just accept files manually, do I use the same commands as in the older
version, 6.21?
Otherwise, the automatic setting says what the file is, right?
Jerry.

It should automatically save the file in to either downloads or your user
folder.
You will hear jaws say, steve has sent you ..... then jaws will announce
file received. You don't actually have to do anything.

Mine was not. If I could fix that issue, I'd upgrade again to skype

Hello Forum,
I agree that we each own our own blindness however,
As a business person myself I don't wright off percentages of my
client base just because they are smaller than other segments
especially when what I need to do to accommodate their needs is to
do nothing! LOL
What I mean by that is upgrades in software should be treated like
upgrades of hardware, the consumer decides if they are happy where
they are and can choose to do nothing.
Now I am also aware of the practical side of not being able to
support software that's more than 8 or 10 years old, but what Skype
just did to us could have been done slower and for sure far better.
I have always believed in full disclosure by telling my clients
what's good and what's going to change for them if they accept or
decline a proposal.
But I just think MS and other companies could handle upgrades better
not from what they develop or do but by offering the public the
choice to do nothing!
And choosing to do nothing in my office is still free of charge,
because it costs me nothing to grant them their wish! LOL
I guess I'll just have to keep dreaming.
Thanks for all your valuable input,
Respectfully,
Mike

I'm probably going to rattle a few cages here, but I think we as
blind people should stop thinking that big companies like Microsoft
should always consider us when upgrading their products.
The fact is that we are a small portion of their market, and while
I am against discrimination of any kind, I also believe that we as
blind users should develop our own workarounds when things do not
work like we were used to or seem inaccessible. I remember many
years ago when a friend of mine (who is also blind) started
teaching me to use a computer. During the very first "lesson", he
said to me: "It's a sighted world out there my friend." Perhaps
all of us would do well to remember that.

Hi Denise,
First may I say I'm new to the group so if I'm sending this message
the wrong way please forgive me.
But I do agree with you.
I was very happily using Jaws 14 and It was working just fine with
all my other programs until last week when Skype upgraded and I
couldn't get it to work for me.
I was told to upgrade to Jaws 16 which I did do and now my older
reliable software that I have used for years isn't working right either.
This is interfering with my ability to get my paying work done.
How do I get an older version of Skype back on my machine?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
thanks,

I can't accept incoming files. Skype for Mac have had the posibility to
accept files automically for a long time and thsi function is now avaible
also in Skype for Windows. Some would mybe say it's a risk to accept files
automatically but if that's the only way to do it now the I use it. Would
ofcourse prefer that it'll be posible again to accept manually.

Hello Forum,
I agree that we each own our own blindness however, As a business
person myself I don't wright off percentages of my client base just
because they are smaller than other segments especially when what I
need to do to accommodate their needs is to do nothing! LOL What I
mean by that is upgrades in software should be treated like upgrades
of hardware, the consumer decides if they are happy where they are
and can choose to do nothing.
LOL I guess
I'll just have to keep dreaming.
Thanks for all your valuable input,
Respectfully,
Mike

I?m probably going to rattle a few cages here, but I think we as
blind people should stop thinking that big companies like Microsoft
should always consider us when upgrading their products.
The fact is that we are a small portion of their market, and while I
am against discrimination of any kind, I also believe that we as
blind users should develop our own workarounds when things do not
work like we were used to or seem inaccessible. I remember many
years ago when a friend of mine (who is also blind) started teaching
me to use a computer. During the very first ?lesson?, he said to
me: ?It?s a sighted world out there my friend.? Perhaps all of us
would do well to remember that.

Hi Denise,
First may I say I'm new to the group so if I'm sending this message
the wrong way please forgive me.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks, Mike

I'm using Skype 6.22.0.107, with windows 7.
I'm hearing that it's impossible to accept files with this version.
I haven't had the chance to try it yet.
Is this information accurate?
Alsow using Jaws 15.
