Using windows 7 the direct shortcut to taks manager is control, shift and escape. You can get to the task manager by using control, alt and delete and then arrowing down. I don't think ctrl/shift plus x launches task manager any longer. You have to press ctrl/alt plus delete and then arrow down to task manager. control tab to processes and then tab to the list of programmes. The shortcut to end a process is alt e. For example, it tells me Skype is running, and to shut it down, but it's not showing up on the system tray, and when I hit enter on the icon on the desk top, nothing happens, so it's like it isn't even open.
