Ctrl+1 puts you in the contact list, then arrow up and down to pick a contact and press Enter to move to the edit box for typing to that contact. Once you've done that, Ctrl+5 will move to the list of chat messages between you and that contact, and up and down arrows will move through those messages. The JAWS cursor is likely to be confusing to use because it will read things alongside the list, so I recommend just leaving the PC cursor active and using arrows.
