I guess maybe I'm naive. I would not think too many people would abuse the
list with wishes, but maybe so. Anyway, I do see your reasoning. I don't know
that I agree with it, but I'm willing to respect your wish, and agree to
disagree. Anyway, I'll go ahead now and put this thread to rest, as far as I'm
concerned.

Don't worry about it. The rule is actually I think in the welcome email
everyone receives.
The reason is I like to keep things on topic for the publicly available
archive and I don't want those of us who search to be cluttered with happy
holiday messages every time a us, British, Russian, etc holiday comes up. The
list will then be a mess. Oh you can have happy holidays in your sig, but not
as a general message to this list.
