Speaking about those check boxes, I also see I cannot uncheck "incoming
IM in current chat" check box in Skype sound settings.
Wondering why Skype is not fixing those annoying issues!

Sorry but I even checked with a sighted friend. I am sure they are
checked. It seams there's something wrong with Skype itself.
If I use Skype Talking, I can here all the status changes I want to
here. Maybe because Skype Talking uses Skype API rather than MSAA which
you are using? (Sorry if I am wrong).
Skype... Please fix your issue!

One other idea: Do you know (via your sighted friend) if the status
change alerts are appearing on screen when
they should? Since you say the sounds are not playing though the options
for those are checked, I suspect
you're right and the alerts are also not appearing for some reason. You
are of course right that I use MSAA,
and if an alert doesn't appear, there's nothing for my scripts to say. :)
