Dear friends,
Let me add an important factor over here!
Today Microsoft has updated Skype app 11.17 as soon as it has installed, it has
removed my Skype for desktop.
To me its not a good news!
As soon as I saw it, I have managed to install it because I don’t want to use
skype app for windows 10!

Hello I just tested the app version out with NVDA and it reads like what JAWS
reads, again, the app store version which still works relatively well with
screen readers to an extent still has quirks but still is manageable whereas
the desktop version which we all are used to, stopped working for me on both
laptops I own running Windows 10 latest vuild, think it is the creator update
one. I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 when it first came out. I have two
HP laptops: the HPG72 and the HP Probook 6570B models.
It will all take some getting used to that is for sure.
On an unrelated note, can anyone recommend either a foldable or a small
bluetooth keyboard for use with iOS devices running the latest iOS update? I
own an iPod Touch 5th generation and an iPhone 5s.
I'll be looking to either buy a bluetooth keyboard from either Best Buy or
Fry's Electronics or Amazon in the USA. The reason why I'm asking is that I
normally use my braille display but it is our of commission right now and I
need something to help me type fast comfortably. The screen is my friend up
until I start typing. LOL!
Thanks for any recommendations. Even trifoldable keyboards would work for me as
well. One requirement is that I would need keys to be distinct and I need to
feel comfortable typing, I wouldn't want a keyboard that looks like the
T-Mobile Dash, for those who might remember what that looked and felt like, but
to those who don't know, it looked like a mini calculator and all the buttons
were tiny and the spacing was so small.
Again, thanks for any recommendations. I'm looking in the $20 through $50 range
if that helps any.
Thanks much.
Chela

Well, I've been playing around with the app version of the Skype program and
surprisingly it is manageable with JAWS but as with mainstream programs that
are not specifically tailored to screenreader technology, it does possess
quirks and the interface takes some getting used to and as far as the desktop
app goes, on my HPG72 windows waptop that was upgraded to windows 10 once that
OS was released, no longer lets me sign into my account and has not done so for
a year, which is weird because it used to work before I upgraded to Windows 10,
so I uninstalled that, yet I'm able to sign in just fine using the app version
of Skype on this and my HP Pro Book ^570B windows laptop also was upgraded to
windows 10. So, there you have it. I'm assuming that certain laptop models
won't run the desktop version while the app version will. Just my personal
experience with this, if you would like, I can test NVDA to see how that works
with Skype App, but I can honestly say that desktop version won't work on both
computers anymore with NVDA and JAWS, I'll report back to you how NVDA does
with the app version of Skype if you would like for me to do so. Just let me
know.
Sincerely,

Hi,
I think the desktop Version would be available, but with new design. Microsoft
is planning a completely new design of skype. Windows 7 is still supported and
it is use by very much companies, so I don’t believe that the desktop version
wouldn’t available.
