the .17 release is just a minor patch, i'm pretty sure you could use the
develop.py from the .16 release

no more than minor problems, but none of the 1.20 series -- the most
recent for me is 1.19.4. My "linden" directory is brand new and
contains nothing but what the download-and-build instructions put there.
Any hints? And thank you ...
