I've just started learning slide two days ago.

I'd recommend learning it in this order.

1. Download binaries. Do not use the included server/client, use a new
setup for hands on practice. Basically, you can ignore everything in
directory "server".

2. Install dedicated tomcat for slide

3. copy slide.war slide-admin.war slidedoc.war into tomcat webapps

4. Start and stop tomcat for expansion.

5. "Factorize" the webapps to share common slide libraries
- Move slide-kernel.jar slide-roles.jar slide-stores.jar jta.jar
jdom.jar jaxp.jar crimson.jar (remove hsqldb.jar if not using) from
slide/WEB-INF/lib to {tomcat}/shared/lib
- Delete slide-roles.jar from slide-admin

7. Follow http://faq.globalvision.com.au/fom-serve/cache/88.html and read
all articles in http://faq.globalvision.com.au/fom-serve/cache/4.html

8. When done configuring slide war, copy Domain.xml into root directory of
slide-admin webapp.. (to make it work)

9. You can then try to figure out how to make both apps share the same
Domain.xml file.

The jakarta slide "official" docs are useful.. However not verbose enough
for newbie reader to understand what is going on... After tracing through
Domain.xml file, using the FAQ quick start doc, it all start to make sense.
