I downloaded the "newest" source, I was using 1.0.16 before! I was able to verify that the version of http-commons does work with digest authentication, by sending a simple "get" command. I'm having a friend come over tonight to help me build the source code, hopefully I'll know soon if I can actually send webdav requests!

Define "current version of Slide". The "current" released version is 2 years old, version 1.0.16. It is based on pre-2.0 Slide code and likely does not support digest authentication. The CVS version of Slide uses a more recent version of httpclient and may be what you're looking for.
