Hello People,
I am making very interesting progress with the slide webdav framework. However,I have two very serious issues about how webdav/Slide engine manages the creation of a new documents. ISSUE I ============ I have tried to save a new document from Ms Word into the slide server thru the webfolder. But all I get is a file permission and network error. How can I create new documents on the server from proprietory applications that support webdav (e.g MS Word 2000, XP)???????????????????
"Save As..." with Word did not work in 2.0b1. Try 2.0rc1...
I succeeded in moving documents (from the Hard drive) to the server thru the Put(String path, File file) method of the WebdavResource client from my Java application. The only issue I have with this is that the document must be existent on the local machine first. I do not like this constraint. I want to be able to launch the Word processor, create the document and click a save menu and successfully throw my newly created document into the DAV server. Can anyone help me on how to go about this objective of creating a new document on the server from a Word Processor like Ms Word. Pls permit me to report this; I could update changes to a document thru the word application to server. But this means that the document already exists on the DAV server. I will appreciate all helps in form of advice, direction, guidance, our sample steps on how to go about creating a new document on the DAV server from the word processing application. ISSUE II ============ 2) I noticed that when I open a document from the server thru the right application though, the SaveAs menu is not disabled. This means that an unauthorized user can steal the document by just saving it on the local drive. Could someone comment on how to prevent this?
Please explain... When you have downloaded a document to your local machine, of course you can anything you want... Is it this what you are talking about?
Oliver
