Hello Oliver,

I thank you so much for your contribution.
I will download the Slide 2.0 rc1 to test the SaveAs option of Ms Word for creating
new document on DAV Server.
You will recall that I raised 2 issues in the last mail
You however, requested for a detail description of what I meant by the 2nd issue
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
> ISSUE II
> ============
> 2) I noticed that when I open a document from the server thru the
right application though, the SaveAs menu is not disabled. This means that
an unauthorized user can steal the document by just saving it on the
local drive.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now this is what I mean
I open a document from the DAV Server thru a webfolder.
On opening an already existing document on the DAV Server, I made changes and went to
the File menu of Ms word.
I discovered that the SaveAs option was available.Eventhough I could not use it with
the webfolder; as I get a network/file permission error.
But most importantly, it occured to me that what if someone redirect that document to
a partition on his ocal hard drive? Since the saveas option was available.
I tested it and I was a able to save (keep a copy this document, though meant to be on
the server) on the local hard drive of my system.
Now My Concern
===============
My concern with this is that; consider that this was a confidential document, that
means that somebody can make away with a copy for dubious purpose.
I feel that at the time when u open such a document from the server, the user should
not have access to the SaveAs menu or it should be disabled at that time for reasons
of security.
This is what I meant by the statement "This means that an unauthorized user can steal
the document by just saving it on the local drive".
I hope you got the gist!
Does my thinking make sense?
I need you to comment on this and then extend the slide webdav capability to disable
the saveas menu when a document is opened for editting (if this does not exist be4).
This I think, will increase the security of the document on the server.

NEW ISSUES
===========
I noticed that some other word processor does not support slide webdav. For instance,
when I tested with the OpenOffice. org 1.1.0 I got horrible errors.
1)What can you say about the support of the OpenOffice.org word processing application
for slide webdav?
2) Does StarOffice (Sun Microsystems product) word processing application have support
for the slide webdav protocol.
I thank you in advance and hope to receive detailed answers in your reply.

I commend your efforts,
COGI

"Save As..." with Word did not work in 2.0b1. Try 2.0rc1...

Please explain... When you have downloaded a document to your local
machine, of course you can anything you want... Is it this what you are
talking about?
