Yes and no. The project has definitely slowed considerably but there are a lot of installed users that are providing support and bug fixes (but no releases yet). Jackrabbit is relatively new and its WebDAV support is not as complete as Slide's. On the other hand Jackrabbit's API is "standard" java CM API. Hope this helps.
