Hey there,
Yes, that was me. First off, you can press Ctrl-C to get past it.
Once you're in, I recommend putting on the (very stable) 2.2.14
kernel.
As everyone mentioned, make sure you make your modules as well,
otherwise the kernel will be very confused. :)
Natasha also reminded me to copy over the System.map file into
/boot, which is almost never mentioned in "how to compile your
kernel" articles because they usually assume you'll be compiling
the same version that you started with. I must admit that on my
first reboot after compiling 2.2.14 I remembered that I hadn't done
it... :)
There was also talk of renaming the /lib/modules directories too,
but that's really only necessary if you're recompiling the same
version kernel, just to keep out the cruft.
I heartily recommend 2.2.14 - jump on that dowload/compile/reboot
treadmill now! :)
