You need to either:
a) reconfigure NT to send unencrypted passwords, or
b) install a version of samba with encryption support.

for more information on this.
I don't believe the version of samba supplied with Redhat includes
encryption, but if you download the rpm from an Australian samba site, it
_will_ include encryption.
