Hi there
I just went out and purcheased a Dynalink 56k pcmcia modem for my laptop
and it works fine the interestering part was I had a 28.8K modem (banksia)
which I didn't know if it worked or not anyway the phone lead to the
dynalink is exactly the same as the banksia one hence I am going to be taking
back the dynalink
and now I need a lead for the banksia (it's free and the time I am going
to be using it isn't much almost didn't justify the money on the other
one)

the plug on the pcmcia card looks a bit like

4 connecting pins only no electronics in the lead at all

something like that I guess it's common because a banksia and lucent
(which is the dynalink one) what's in common between those two and 4 years
apart!

the ^'s are connections everything else is casing

I know I can get the right leas from Banksia for about $35 so the keyword
is cheap here

And you know if I go asking for it most computer places will go on about
saying it must come from banksia etc.....

oh and as a final note I am curious if anybody has got freeonline
(freeonline.com.au) to work dialing in using redhat's netcfg utility
basically it's a ppp dialin without a username and password I presume
dns/ip's are assigned at their end
