OK, looks like your kde setup is different to mine. Normally kde is
found in /opt/kde. Is this a Red Hat distro? (I have heard that they
munge the standard kde and Enlightenment setup).
On my install, kppp is not a link to consolehelper, but an actual
aplication (I don't have anything called consolehelper). I guess you
could try suid'ing the consolehelper app.
but that is just a guess...
