and about the same as the way I'd describe my last experience
with RH (v 5.0)

I'm not thinking too clearly at the moment <pops a couple of panadol's >
I could suggest reinstalling kde (v1.1.2 latest stable) from kde.org
(not RH munged packages). Or I can give a big thumbs up to Caldera 2.3
as a nice desktop O/S (and winning a few converts in the 'NT shop' I work
in :)
