I suspect your problem is MUCH more likely to be specific to the SiS chipset.
Which Xserver are you using? I found with the SiS6326 on my work machine I
needed to fetch the SuSE SiS X server (www.suse.com and then start digging)
before it would work even semi-satisfactorily. It's OK now, by which I mean it
seems to work as well as the chipset and card will allow. I'm not a fan of SiS
video chippery; not the ones I've come across, anyway.
