For both machines I have installed with SiS chippery on board, the install was
a vanilla RedHat 6.1, which I think makes it XFree 3.3.5. The installs were
late last year, and I had to fetch XFCom_SiS to get the chips video working
well (they did work with the default Xserver, but the video was definitely
buggy).
http://www.suse.de/en/support/xsuse/ talks about a modified 3.3.6 for SuSE
users. Whether this means the servers I fetched last year are now in official
3.3.6, or just that they have a patched 3.3.6, I don't know. If you are using a
version prior to 3.3.6, I'd give 3.3.6 a go and see if matters improve. Failing
that, see if the SuSE servers are indeed stock 3.3.6.
